Brunch review at Breadstreet Kitchen, Dubai

Michelen Star and TV Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is very well known for his TV appearance and has a string of restaurants across the UK, US, France, Singapore and of course in Dubai. It is himself behind this classic British restaurant, Breadstreet Kitchen & Bar, located at the world famous Atlantis hotel on Palm Jumeirah.

What’s the Family Friday Brunch all about:

We had the pleasure to try their Friday Brunch last Friday, and despite the uncertainty of the current Covid times, we were pleasantly surprised at how well the safety measures were in place, and how much of a good time we had.

The spacious venue with its chequered tiles, photo wall, open view kitchen, ice cream bar, and outdoor seating makes a lovely atmosphere for casual dining with the family. We arrived just after 1 and could see the place filled with families having a lovely time.

We were seated outside, in the shaded area and for this time of the year felt very pleasant. There was a kids corner with some art activities going on too, but they were more than happy to complete the colouring activity kit handed to them at the table, which also included the kids menu.

Let’s begin feasting:

Following the SOPs, the starters and dessert counter were open for buffet, with movement of people in one direction, and staff serving on to our plates. On the other hand, the mains and drinks were served at the table.

To begin the gastronomical feast, we started with the cold starters which served some fresh and nutritious options. Salads included Superfood salad with toasted seeds, Quinoa salad and Roast beetroot salad, perfect for vegans. I was impressed with the medium sized prawns in their Prawn cocktail, and the generous filling in the Chicken Coronation roll. Never have tried before Tuna Tartare, I specially loved the spicy kick to it.

We were equally spoilt for choice at the hot starter station. Our favourite picks had to be the slider and the wings. The BSK Beef slider packed a thick premium Wagyu patty loaded with Monterey Jack cheese and pickles was lip smacking. The Tamarind spiced Chicken Wings was equally delicious and we kept going for more.

When it came to the mains, I chose to go with Beef while Zoheb opted for Salmon. My well-done sirloin beef was served on a smooth pumpkin puree and topped with mushrooms and sauce. Flavoursome for sure but felt a little dry. The Pan seared Salmon was served on a bed of creamy vegetables and nuts.

My 5 year old opted for a classic Fish and Chips, which she enjoyed, but wasn’t able to complete. The deep fried crispy fish was served with chips, a wedge of lemon and mushy peas. Personally, for a classic Fish and Chip, I would have liked to see chunky chips being served, as done so traditionally.

Although we were stuffed by then, we were not going to miss the dessert counter, which was set in close proximity to the ice cream bar. I could tell my daughter was thoroughly enjoying her raspberry and blueberry ice cream. She even managed to ask for a cup of gummies. On the other hand, I filled a plate of some classic British desserts; such as the Medjool date and banana sticky toffee pudding, carrot cake and Muscovado meringue Eton mess with berries.

Overall service:

The service was excellent, and we were always being attended to in a way that was most accommodating to us. I very much appreciated the friendliness of the staff at the drinks counter, handing apple juice and a little bowl of blueberries (his favourite) to my 1 year old. My 5 year old was also allowed to complete a water melon decorating class at the table, complete with a chef’s hat and a certificate at our table. She enjoyed decorating her watermelon with butter cream icing, summer fruits and a few mini M&Ms, before devouring it entirely.

To end it on an excellent note, complimentary access to The Lost Chambers was available for our family. The kids enjoyed watching the fishes and other interesting sea creatures, while having the opportunity to burn off that sugar at same time.
